North Vancouver House
Location: North Vancouver BC
Date: 2009

The emphasis of this design was to draw natural filtered light into the interior of the house and create flexible spaces that promote the congregation and interaction of family members while affording individuals the opportunity to retreat to private spaces for pause and reflection.  The interface between the interior and exterior living spaces is blurred by the use of operable walls that slide away to create large indoor/outdoor rooms.  This transparent and flexible delineation of space allows parent supervision of young children from many vantage points within the house while encouraging the children to explore their environment and assert their independence.
